Some wedding days are memorable because of the weather, some because of the people, and some because of the moments that unfold naturally throughout the day. Julia and Nick's late spring wedding at Harrington Farm in Princeton had all three.
These two have been together since high school, and there was something so easy and comfortable about the way they spent the day together. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that their wedding was all about celebrating with the people who mean the most to them.
The grounds at Harrington Farm were in full bloom for their wedding day. Peonies and spring flowers surrounded the property, and despite the heat advisory, the setting couldn't have been more beautiful. It was one of those classic New England spring days that felt more like the middle of summer, with high temperatures and humidity from the start of the morning.
Julia and Nick made the best possible decision by choosing to do a first look and all of their formal photographs before the ceremony. We completed their couple portraits, wedding party photographs, and family photos before guests arrived, allowing them to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening together. Even in the heat, they stayed positive and were simply happy to be getting married.
Their blue and gray color palette fit the season perfectly and looked beautiful against the lush green landscape around Harrington Farm. There were also plenty of personal touches throughout the day, including a Lego cake topper and several nods to Nick's love of The Lord of the Rings, making the celebration feel uniquely theirs.
Their ceremony was officiated by Nick's Uncle Bud and was one of the sweetest parts of the day. Julia and Nick wrote their own vows, sharing words that reflected their long history together and the life they are building as high school sweethearts turned husband and wife.
One of the things we remember most about this wedding, though, was the incredible group of people surrounding them. Their friends and family were so kind, welcoming, and easy to work with, creating an atmosphere that made the entire day feel relaxed and joyful.
And then came sunset.
After an extremely hot and humid day, the sky put on a show unlike anything we've seen in a long time. Bright shades of pink filled the horizon, creating one of the most beautiful sunsets we've photographed in years. It was the perfect ending to a day that was already full of meaningful moments, and honestly, it may be hard to beat that sunset for the rest of the year.
Julia and Nick, thank you for trusting us to document your wedding day. It was a joy getting to celebrate alongside you, and we wish you both all the best as you begin this next chapter together!
