Some weddings feel familiar before they even begin, and Colleen and Connor's wedding at Harrington Farm was one of those days.
A few years ago, we photographed Connor's brother Sean's wedding to Alexa at the same venue. Their wedding became one of the most memorable we've ever photographed because a blizzard arrived just in time for the celebration. This time, the weather could not have been more different. Instead of snow, Colleen and Connor were treated to a beautiful summer day with blue skies, warm sunshine, and perfect conditions from beginning to end. It was wonderful to see Sean and Alexa again along with so many familiar faces from their wedding. You can see Sean and Alexa's snowy Harrington Farm wedding here: Sean & Alexa's Blizzard Wedding
The day began with a first look, giving Colleen and Connor a chance to see each other before the ceremony and settle into the excitement of the day. From there, we photographed the wedding party before moving to family photos on the Harrington Farm patio, allowing everyone to relax before guests arrived for the ceremony.
Their ceremony took place on the ceremony patio surrounded by family and friends on a perfect summer afternoon. After they exchanged vows, everyone headed to cocktail hour while we explored the grounds for their couple's portraits. The soft summer light made for beautiful photographs, and we also took time to photograph Colleen and Connor with their grandparents. Having those generations together is always something special. They even had a few quiet moments alone to catch their breath and enjoy being newly married before the celebration continued.
Their reception included so many memorable moments. After being introduced, they went right into their first dance. It was beautifully choreographed, but what made it even more unforgettable was that Colleen's mom, Christine, sang the song At Last live as they danced. It was an incredible performance and such a meaningful way to begin the evening.
Thoughtful toasts followed before another family tradition took center stage. When it came time to cut the cake, Colleen and Connor used the same cake knife Connor's grandparents had used at their own wedding 64 years earlier. Using that knife at all of their weddings has become a family tradition, and it was wonderful to watch Connor's grandparents come up to see it used once again.
Music continued to play an important role throughout the evening. During the anniversary dance, Colleen and her mom performed A Thousand Years sung together as a duet. Unsurprisingly, Connor's grandparents were the last couple remaining on the dance floor after celebrating 64 years of marriage. It's hard to beat a record like that, and it made for a very special moment for everyone watching.
As the evening drew to a close, the sky put on one final show. A beautiful pink sunset stretched across the horizon, perfectly matching the wedding colors of pink, purple, and blue. It was the perfect ending to a day that celebrated family, tradition, and a couple who were surrounded by people who clearly love them.
Colleen and Connor, thank you for trusting us to photograph your wedding day. It was such a pleasure celebrating with you and seeing so many familiar faces again. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness together!
