Some wedding days don't go exactly according to plan, but the best weddings are never defined by the weather. Meg and Dan's Harrington Farm wedding was the perfect reminder that a great attitude can turn even a rainy ceremony into something unforgettable.
From the moment the day began, these two were incredibly calm. Meg was relaxed all afternoon, taking everything in with a smile, while Dan was just as laid back, although you could tell he was excited and feeling those pre ceremony nerves in the sweetest way.
The day began with getting ready photos and a few wedding party photographs before the ceremony. Although they chose not to do a first look, Meg shared a quiet first peek with her dad that was one of the most emotional moments of the day.
Their outdoor ceremony became one that no one will ever forget. As the wedding processional began, the skies opened up.
Dan's dad officiated, something the couple told us he had always hoped to do. It made the ceremony feel especially personal and after hearing the touching vows that Meg and Dan had written for one another, there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd (because of both the rain and the emotion).
The rain fell for almost the exact length of the ceremony and then stopped.
While it certainly wasn't the weather anyone had hoped for, it created an incredibly romantic scene. Family and friends gathered beneath umbrellas and under nearby trees as they watched these two exchange vows. Everyone got a little wet, but no one let it dampen the celebration. Meg and Dan stayed as calm as ever, smiling through every moment and proving that what mattered most was finally being married.
Once the rain passed, everyone embraced the adventure. We completed wedding party photos, family photographs, and the couple's portraits with plenty of soggy dresses, damp suits, and lots of laughter along the way.
Guests were welcomed into the reception by Meg and Dan in a receiving line and with personalized place cards that included individual welcome and thank you notes, a thoughtful touch that made everyone feel appreciated. Another fun detail was a temporary tattoo station featuring playful designs, including one inspired by the couple's cats.
Lovely toasts from family painted a wonderful picture of who they are as a couple and the life they are building together. And their timeless color palette of green, cream, and tan fit Harrington Farm beautifully, creating an elegant and natural look throughout the day.
After dinner, Meg changed into a party dress before the two slipped outside for a few sunset portraits and they even ran through the field. They returned to the reception ready to celebrate, spending the rest of the evening on the dance floor surrounded by family and friends who were just as excited as they were.
Rain may have made an appearance on their wedding day, but it also became part of the story. Years from now, no one will care about the soggy clothes. They'll remember the laughter, the tears, the beautiful ceremony officiated by Dan's dad, and two people who never let unexpected weather take away from one of the happiest days of their lives.
We are so happy to have been a part of their day! Congratulations Meg & Dan!
