September is such a great time for a wedding at The Barn at Wight Farm in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. There is still plenty of green around the property, but the first hints of fall are starting to show, and the cooler air makes it a perfect time of year for an outdoor ceremony and photos around the grounds.


For this September wedding, the ceremony took place in The Barn at Wight Farm’s newer outdoor ceremony space. The arbor has really filled in with vines over the past year, and with the florals added for the wedding, it made a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. A close friend of the couple officiated, making the ceremony personal and meaningful.


The timeline was planned so the couple could spend as much of the day as possible enjoying their family and friends. They chose to do a first look before the ceremony, followed by their wedding party and family photographs. With most of the formal photos finished ahead of time, there was no need to spend the entire cocktail hour taking pictures.


Their three month old baby and dog were also part of the day, so of course we made time for a family photo with everyone together.


After the ceremony, we spent a little more time outside for a few additional couple portraits and family photos before everyone headed in for cocktail hour. A live band played while guests gathered, followed by introductions and dinner inside the barn.


The reception included a photo table dash, toasts, cake cutting and parent dances before the dance floor opened for the rest of the evening.


The Barn at Wight Farm is especially beautiful as summer begins to turn into fall. The property has that classic New England feel that works so well with crisp September weather, early fall color and the warm atmosphere inside the barn. Having both indoor and outdoor ceremony options also gives couples more flexibility when planning their wedding day while still keeping everything right on the property.


It was a beautiful September day in Sturbridge and a great start to the fall wedding season. Congratulations Melissa & Ryan- we are so glad to have been a part of your day!
