October in New England means colorful leaves, crisp fall air, and sometimes a whole lot of rain! Katie and Mike's wedding at Harrington Farm in Princeton, MA, had all three. The foliage was right at peak color, with brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows covering the grounds. The weather may not have cooperated, but we still managed to get some beautiful outdoor photos before the rain arrived, and the celebration that followed was a great one!
We started with Katie and Mike's first look, followed by couple photos and wedding party photos around the Harrington Farm grounds. Katie looked gorgeous in her wedding gown with its beautiful train, and Mike looked sharp in his black tuxedo. The fall colors were incredible, and their wedding colors fit right in with the season. The groomsmen wore gray suits with burgundy ties, while the bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses. Their flowers brought everything together with rich reds, oranges, and yellows.
We finished up outside just in time! As the rain started, we moved to the covered farmhouse porch for family photos. With the forecast looking increasingly wet, Katie and Mike made the decision to move their ceremony indoors. Luckily, Harrington Farm has one of the prettiest indoor ceremony spaces around. The barn's fireplace creates such a warm, cozy setting, especially for a fall wedding.
And the timing couldn't have been better. Just before the ceremony began, the skies really opened up! It poured throughout the ceremony and continued raining for the rest of the night. But inside the barn, everything was warm and inviting, and Katie and Mike were surrounded by their family and friends.
One of the fun details of their wedding was the adventure theme, which was a great fit for a couple beginning their next adventure together. And while the weather certainly added an unexpected twist to the day, it didn't keep anyone from having a good time.
Once the reception got underway, everyone was ready to celebrate. Katie even changed into a second dress for dancing, which was perfect for a night on the dance floor! They made the most of their rainy wedding day, spending the evening dancing, laughing, and enjoying time with their favorite people. Their family, friends, and wedding party were all so much fun and genuinely nice to work with, which made the day even better.
We always hope for beautiful weather on a wedding day, especially during peak foliage season in New England. But Katie and Mike's wedding was a good reminder that a little rain, or even a whole lot of it, doesn't have to get in the way of a great celebration.
