October weddings in New England can be unpredictable, and Alicia and Brandon's wedding at Harrington Farm in Princeton, MA, was a perfect example! The day started with pouring rain and ended the same way, but somehow, right when it mattered most, the rain stopped. Alicia and Brandon decided to take a chance on having their ceremony outside, and we're so glad they did!
It was one of those October days with a little bit of everything. Chilly but not cold air, warm fall colors, mist hanging over the hills, and incredible foliage that seemed to pop even more against the fog. The grounds at Harrington Farm looked almost too good to be real.
We started photography at Alicia's Airbnb, capturing some getting ready photos with her bridesmaids before heading over to Harrington Farm for photos of Brandon and his groomsmen. Once Alicia arrived, she put on her wedding dress and shared a special first peek with her dad. We took advantage of the break in the rain to photograph Alicia with her bridesmaids and family before tucking everyone away so we could get some of Brandon's family photos done, too.
Alicia and Brandon chose not to do a first look, so we planned to save their photos together for after the ceremony. Amazingly, we were able to take all of their photos outside! The ground was wet, but Alicia wasn't going to let that stop her. She wanted the photos, and as she saw it, the dress could always be cleaned afterward. We love that attitude!
Their outdoor ceremony on Harrington Farm's patio was beautiful. Alicia's brother officiated, making it especially personal, and the couple exchanged vows they had written themselves. With the colorful fall trees and mist surrounding them, it was such a beautiful setting. Taking the chance on an outdoor ceremony turned out to be one of the best decisions of the day.
After the ceremony, we finished up the wedding party and family photos that included both Alicia and Brandon before heading out to explore the grounds for their couple photos. The rain had left everything damp, but the scenery was incredible. The fall colors against the foggy backdrop almost looked like something you'd see in a movie set, except it was all real! We had so much fun making the most of that little window of dry weather.
Then it was time to head inside the barn for the reception, just as the rainy weather returned. There were some great toasts, a fun photo dash with their guests, and a surprise bouquet dedication from Alicia to her mom that made for a really sweet moment. After the parent dances, the dance floor filled up, and everyone had an awesome time celebrating.
Alicia and Brandon's wedding was a great reminder that you don't need perfect weather to have an incredible wedding day. Sometimes a little fog, some wet grass, and a willingness to take a chance make for some of the best photos. We're so glad these two went for it!
